With your generous support we have been able to raise nearly £3,000, through JustGiving or sent directly to our charity, to aid those affected by the Wellington Fire Disaster in Freetown, Sierra Leone on 5 November 2021.
EFSL has been meeting with the injured in hospital, as well as with the families that have lost loved ones and businesses. As of their last update, there are still 92 people in hospital, and many who are being cared for at home.
They have advised that more than 100 local families have been affected, including the households of over 40 Fulani traders and 51 commercial bike drivers. There were also many people caught up in the disaster who were passing through from other communities.
EFSL's aim is to support to 30 households affected by the tragedy. This consists of the families of 10 badly handicapped survivors, 5 widows, 5 traders who have lost their businesses and 10 households of deceased drivers. The aid provided will include 50kg of rice per family, other food supplies, clothing, blankets, sanitary packs, cooking supplies etc.
We greatly appreciate your donations, and if anyone would like to give further you are still welcome to, this will enable EFSL to continue providing support to these families in their time of need.
